Fees and Payment Plans

slider1

There is no charge for your initial consultation or diagnostic orthodontic records taken at this appointment. A detailed diagnosis as well as formulation of a treatment plan by Dr. Burkey is also complimentary.

As everyone’s mouth is different, treatment plans vary depending on the bite problem. Fees for active treatment are determined based on the finalized treatment plan(s) and estimated treatment length after Dr. Burkey has carefully studied your orthodontic records.

Our payment plans usually include a down payment (to cover the longer appointment as well as the materials to place the braces) and monthly payments. Our flexible payment arrangements are designed to make orthodontic treatment affordable, and payment plans are interest free! For your convenience, we offer automatic debits from a checking or savings account, or we are able to do automatic credit card payments. We accept assignment of benefits from most insurance companies, and this could lower both your down payment and monthly payments.

We hare happy to offer a “Family Care Program”, where we extend a discounted fee for additional family members who might also be in need of orthodontic care. If a child undergoes a Phase I therapy of early or initial interceptive orthodontic treatment, we also offer a discounted fee for the comprehensive full braces phase of treatment.

We will work with you to create a payment plan that fits your budget, and you will know what to expect before beginning treatment. As always, we will do everything possible to provide you with a positive experience!

Insurance

There are many different agreements between insurance carriers and their subscribers, and each contract provides a different benefit. Not everyone with dental insurance will have orthodontic coverage. Please note that orthodontic insurance is different from regular dental insurance, in that each insured individual usually has a lifetime maximum benefit for orthodontic services. This benefit is paid as a percentage of the orthodontic fee until the benefit maximum has been reached. In some instances, you may have a deductible to meet first.

For your convenience, our office will gladly assist you by calling your insurance company to get an estimate of the amount of your coverage. Once your insurance carrier verifies your orthodontic benefits, we can determine your anticipated balance and arrange a workable payment plan for you. As a service, we will also submit insurance claim forms on your behalf. For your convenience, we also accept assignment of insurance benefits, therefore your payment plan is usually for the patient portion of the fee, not including the insurance portion.

Flexible spending plan and tax-free dollars

Many employers now offer flexible spending plans (FSP) that allow their employees to have a percentage of their wages withheld and deposited (tax free) into a health care benefit plan. The federal government controls the limitations of these plans. Contact your employer to determine the specifics of your FSP.

Through an FSP, you determine the amount of money you wish to have deducted from your wages and deposited into your FSP. We can help you clarify the orthodontic charges for a specific calendar year. Once we receive a payment from you, we can issue a receipt upon request. You may then submit this receipt to your FSP administrator to request reimbursement up to the limit of your plan.

Our practice accepts most major credit cards and insurance plans.

Please let us know if you have any questions about your insurance coverage or payment options; and let us know how we can help to make your entire orthodontic experience a pleasant one.
